North Korea's dictator Kim Jong Un has gone viral. His latest propaganda song has become a TikTok sensation. The North Korean propaganda song is called "Friendly Father". It has found an unlikely fan base in the U.S. gen-z. The same America, that shares sour ties with the Hermit Kingdom. Kim has previously said military should "thoroughly annihilate US". But that aside, this is a peppy synth-electro pop. The propaganda song’s lyrics say "let's brag about Kim Jong Un, our friendly father". But the lyrics hold a deeper meaning. The song calls Kim "father", which is term previously reserved for North Korea's founding father—Kim Il Sung. So why is this song going viral? What meaning does it hold? Palki Sharma tells you.
